How Does Jute Rug Feel?

When it is time to pick out a new area rug for a room, you might be a bit intimidated.  An area rug can tie the room together or make it look awful and if you choose the wrong one, you might have to go back and start all over again.  Jute rugs are an ideal natural option but if you have never heard of this type of rug, you might be wondering if it is soft.  Simply put, yes they are.  A jute rug is as soft as one made from cotton and it gives you a nice cushion under your feet.  When you put a jute area rug in the right room, it can tie everything in the room together and it can also be a focal point.  Making a wise decision here is the first step to decorating a room successfully.

Jute rugs are available in a wide variety of colors, textures and patterns.  Usually though, you will see them in natural colors and shades of brown, but you can also find them in greens and reds.  The fibers of this type of rugs is where the texture comes from but the way in which those fibers have been woven is what gives it a variation in the appearance of it.  These rugs can feature a geometric pattern or even an organic one that is formed by the combinations of color.  The natural thickness, texture and color variations of this type of rug are all integral aspects of their appeal and make them an addition that is unique regardless of which room you put them in.

 How about a Sunroom?

While jute rugs look great in any room, in a sunroom a jute rug can really be ideal.  This type of rug has a beach type feel to it and this will complement the gorgeous rays of sunlight that gives the room its name.  Also, there is a growing trend of bringing the outdoor furnishings inside.  Furniture that is made from teak and rattan has moved from the patios and decks into sunrooms and living rooms.  When you put a jute rug with this kind of furniture, the result is a look that is natural.  No matter how cold it is outside, having a jute area rug in a sunroom that has been furnished with outdoor furniture will make it inviting and warm.

Jute area rugs are a cottony soft and versatile element regardless of the room that you decide to put them in.  They have a natural beauty and a warmth that can be the ideal finishing touch for living rooms, sunrooms and even bedrooms.  They come in a variety of colors, patterns, sizes and designs and this allows you to get exactly the style you want for any room.

Where to Place Your Natural Fiber Rug

It doesn’t matter if you are talking about a sisal rug, a jute rug or a seagrass rug, a rug that is made from natural fibers can be a beautiful addition to any room, be it traditional or modern.  These rugs are affordable and eco-friendly and they can be the single thing that draws the interior design of the entire room together.  Here is how they can be placed in different rooms and with different combinations of color and style.

Natural Area Rug

Dens and Offices

One trick is to use a jute or sisal rug beneath a smaller Kilim, Oushak or Oriental rug.  Sometimes you can find vintage rugs that are too small to be used in a larger room but you still want to use it.  A magnificent solution is to place it atop a larger rug made from natural fibers.

Traditional Living Rooms

Rugs that are made from natural fibers are able to add a bit of modern simplicity to even the most traditional of rooms that are done in beige, white and cream.  There is a touch of timelessness and elegance in a room that showcases a chandelier, a sisal rug and cream upholstery.

If you have a more monochrome room, give it a bit of drama with black, white and beige.  Here is where a natural fiber rug can really anchor a room and provide it with a backdrop that is calming when compared with pieces that are more ornate, such as the chandelier and tapestry.  Traditional Oriental rugs in a room such as this would change the look entirely and cause it to be one that is more serious or heavier.  Using a rug made from natural fibers gives it a feel that is more casual.

White slipcovers paired with a sisal rug is a combination that is timeless.  Natural fiber rugs are woven flat most of the time and this allows them to be layered perfectly with smaller hides and rugs.

Eclectic, Modern Living Rooms

In a setting that has the combination of a whimsical chandelier and upholstered furniture in a vintage style, and is juxtaposed against an architecture that is more traditional, there is nothing better than a rug made from natural fibers to tie it all together.

When you have a room that is rather large and you want to use two or more rugs, rugs that are made from natural fibers will allow for you to mix and to layer a variety of weaves, colors, fibers and patterns.

No matter what your style is or how the interior of your home is decorated, one of our natural fiber rugs would finish the look perfectly.

5 Tips for Decorating with Your New Sisal Rug

The way that your home is decorated should represent what you like and it is perfectly natural to want to change things up every once in a while.  You might tear the wallpaper off the walls, paint them or even decide to throw out the furniture and get new furniture.  There is one thing though, that is often overlooked and this one thing is both useful and it can change the total appearance of the room.  What is that critical item? Custom area rugs, such as a sisal rug.

Sisal is a fiber that is found in the Mexican agave cactus.  Rugs made from this fiber are both water and fire resistant.  That isn’t all though!  The way these rugs are made means that they don’t allow any type of dust particulates to adhere to them and if you or someone in your home suffers from allergies to dust, this is an outstanding benefit.  This is the ultimate way to change the appearance of any room while not breaking the bank or going into debt to do it.

Let’s see how we can decorate with these rugs and get that new look.

1.       Layer it.  Many people might decide to put their custom area rugs on a hard wood floor or on carpet or tile.  There is another thing to think about though.  Sisal rugs are typically neutral in color but their borders can be any color you like.  Use a sisal rug as the base and throw a faux cow hide or leather on top of it to instantly get a brand new look.

2.       Color it.  Sisal rugs are actually available in a variety of colors.  You can even get them with a pattern.  You might decide to get a neutral colored one and then paint it.  This type of rug allows you to flaunt your personality.

3.       Protect with it.  If you have stairs then you may have a runner on them.  Get rid of that hard to keep clean runner and protect your stairs with a sisal custom area rug that you can have cut to the length and width of your stairs.

4.       Make it the centerpiece.  A sisal rug can easily be the focal point in any room.  You can even choose to paint them and hang them on a wall like a tapestry.  When you get tired of that look, simply repaint it for the next look you are trying to achieve.

5.       Define with it.  Say you have a large room and it has 2 purposes.  Put a sisal rug on one side of the room and at the opposite side put another one of a different color to delineate the areas.

Decorating and redecorating is something that can be expensive to do.  It doesn’t have to be though if you use sisal rugs to do it.
